Obesity is a serious medical condition that can cause complications such as metabolic syndrome, high blood pressure, atherosclerosis, heart disease, diabetes, high blood cholesterol, cancers, and sleep disorders.

Obesity is a disorder involving excessive body fat that increases the risk of health problems.
Symptoms of obesity may include;

  • Overweight
  • Abdominal obesity
  • Back pain

Obesity is generally caused by eating too much and moving too little. If you consume high amounts of energy, particularly fat and sugars, but do not burn off the energy through exercise and physical activity, much of the surplus energy will be stored by the body as fat

Obese is well above one’s normal weight. A person has traditionally been considered to be obese if they are more than 20% over their ideal weight.
Obesity has been defined by the national institutes of health(NIH) as a BMI (body mass index) of 30 and above. ( A BMI of 30 is about 30 pounds overweight).

Overweight is the weight above what’s considered healthy, often measured using body mass index (BMI).

Consuming fewer calories, making healthy food choices getting more exercise, and monitoring weight may help reduce body mass.
