HOW TO SCHEDULE YOUR DAY TO MAXIMIZE PRODUCTIVITY
We get overwhelmed by the task of the day and end up procrastinating what should be done at the very moment, leaving it to last minute. It can stress the living day out of a person.
Therefore, I have listed out 7 ways on how to plan your day, to ease the workload, and get important things done fast.
- Start with a morning ritual: We should have a routine from the moment we wake up to the moment we sleep, it doesn’t have to be rigid, but it should follow a certain pattern. e.g, wake up, exercise, take a shower, read a motivating book, eat your breakfast, take 30 minutes to check and sort out your mail, dive into the days work, take a break and check your social media platform, head back to work, etc. this way, it is easier to know what comes up next and how to slot in unforeseen circumstances.
- Focus on three big tasks for the day: you should have 3 big tasks you wish to settle. Focus on the 3 big ones first. Tackle them head-on then after a short break, tackle the minor ones. This way, it gives you a feeling of achievement.
- Schedule calls and meetings in the afternoon: your phone, as important as it is, refrain from taking calls throughout the day. Schedule the time to reply chats, call or answer calls. If possible, set up a voice mail, every message should go there, till you are ready to answer your calls.
- Turn off every (social media) distraction while working: just as calls and messages can be distracting, your social media can be a source of distraction, its the number one killer of productivity. We see posts of interest and get sapped into its labyrinth. Schedule your time on social media as well. The time scheduled for your break, you can check out your social media handles. This way, you aren’t wasting productive time.
- Batch tasks together: there will be tasks that go hand in hand, batch them together, consider it done when all tasks under that batch are all done. Thereby killing 2 stones with one bird.
- Relax in the evening: working in the morning and afternoon is said to be the height of productivity, by evening, you start feeling tired. Don’t push it. Rest, your body needs to recuperate from the task it has been subjected to. This is your little way of recharging and getting prepared for the next day.
- Take breaks: finally, take breaks. Take short breaks in-between your work hours. Your body needs to rest as well.
I hope you have been able to readjust your work timetable with these few tips.
Work hard and work smart and work productively.
