Depression is one topic most Nigerians don’t want to talk about due to “I look weak” “something is wrong with me if I own up to it”. we all get depressed at a certain period in our life, and we need to be able to recognize the signs. To treat it check out the post I made on it.

The following are signs to look out for pertaining to depression.

1.Hopeless feeling

Having a hopeless or helpless outlook on your life is the most common symptom of depression. Nothing will ever get better and there’s nothing you can do to improve your situation.

2. Loss of Appetite

Some people will have an increased appetite and gain weight, while others won’t be hungry and will lose weight. But there will be a drastic change to your weight and appetite

3. Loss of interest

A loss of interest or withdrawal from activities that you once looked forward to — sports, hobbies, or going out, you don’t care about your hobbies, work, or any form of past times.

4. Changes to your sleep routine

Depression often comes with a lack of energy and an overwhelming feeling of fatigue, which can be among the most obvious symptoms of depression. You either experience a lack of sleep or overindulgence in it.

5. Anger or irritability.

Your tolerance level is low, any slight misunderstanding gets you worked up, and everything and everyone gets on your nerves.

6. Self-loathing.

You harshly criticize yourself for observed faults and mistakes. You feel worthless and guilty for no abject reason.

7. Suicidal thought

Most cases of suicide are linked to depression. You suddenly feel the strong urge to end everything, your life, and all.

These are the major symptoms of depression.

When faced with any of the above, it’s not the time to bottle up your feelings. find a confidant and share your problems, a problem shared is a problem half solved.

Call the emergency line when you ever feel suicidal, you are not alone.
